Grief Care
Continuing Care When You Need It Most
Grief does not follow a schedule.

In the days surrounding a funeral, there is often an outpouring of support—friends, family, meals, and kind words. But as time passes and others return to their routines, many who are grieving begin to feel the weight of loss even more deeply.
Quiet moments become harder. Questions linger. Loneliness can set in.
Grief Care exists to walk with you through those moments, not just immediately after loss, but in the weeks and months that follow.
What Is Grief Care?

Grief Care is a ministry of personal, ongoing support for individuals and families who are grieving the loss of a loved one.
This is not a program built around schedules, classes, or costs. Instead, it is a simple, intentional effort to provide:
-
A listening ear
-
A caring presence
-
Spiritual encouragement rooted in Scripture
We recognize that grief is not something that can be “fixed.” It is something that must be walked through and no one should have to walk through it alone.

Why Continued Care Matters
Many people find that the most difficult phase of grief comes after the funeral:
-
When the visitors stop coming
-
When daily routines return
-
When reminders of loss appear unexpectedly
-
When questions and emotions deepen over time
Grief can come in waves, sometimes when least expected. Without support, individuals may feel isolated, discouraged, or overwhelmed.
Grief Care is designed to meet that need, offering steady, compassionate support beyond the immediate moment of loss.

What We Offer
Our goal is not to overwhelm, but to be present and available in meaningful ways.

Personal Conversations
Sometimes the most helpful thing is simply having someone who will listen. We offer one-on-one conversations where individuals can speak openly about their grief without pressure or judgment.
Personal Visits
When appropriate, we are available to visit in homes, hospitals, or care facilities. These visits are informal, respectful, and focused on encouragement.
Ongoing Check-Ins
Grief does not disappear after a few days. We offer follow-up contact weeks and months after a loss to ensure that individuals are not forgotten.
Prayer and Spiritual Encouragement
We provide comfort through prayer and by sharing biblical truths that offer hope, strength, and perspective during difficult times.
Availability When Needed
There is no rigid schedule. Support is offered as needed, based on each individual’s situation and desire.

Who This Is For
Grief Care is available to anyone who is hurting from loss, including:

-
Those who have recently lost a loved one
-
Individuals who are still struggling long after a loss
-
Families navigating the emotional challenges of grief
-
Members of our congregation
-
Individuals in the broader community
You do not have to attend our church to receive care.

Our Approach to Grief
We understand that every person experiences grief differently.
Because of that, our approach is:

Personal
We do not use a one-size-fits-all method. Each individual is treated with care and understanding.
Compassionate
We are here to listen, not to rush or minimize what you are experiencing.
Respectful
We respect your space, your timing, and your needs.
Spiritual
We believe true and lasting comfort is found in God. We gently offer biblical encouragement while being sensitive to each person’s situation.
What Grief Care Is Not
To be clear, Grief Care is not:

-
Professional or clinical counseling
-
A replacement for licensed mental health services
-
A structured therapy program

If additional or professional help is needed, we will encourage and support individuals in seeking that care.

A Ministry of Care and Outreach
Grief Care is not only about helping those within our congregation—it is also a way to serve our community.
Many people face loss without any spiritual support. By offering continued care, we aim to:

-
Show genuine compassion
-
Build meaningful relationships
-
Offer hope grounded in God’s Word

This ministry allows us to be present in some of life’s most difficult moments.

Our Biblical Foundation
Grief Care is rooted in the simple but powerful teachings of Scripture:

“Weep with those who weep” (Romans 12:15)
“Bear one another’s burdens” (Galatians 6:2)
“The God of all comfort… comforts us… so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction” (2 Corinthians 1:3–4)

We believe that compassion, presence, and encouragement are essential parts of Christian service.
